With the coming release of SQL Server 2012, Microsoft will change its licensing to provide customers a choice between three different options.
The first option is licensing by compute power, or core based licensing. The second one is licensing by users, based on a server license and CALs. And the last option is called Database virtualization, which is a licensing model supporting core based or user based licensing in a virtual environment.
LicenseWatch can fully support all three licensing models to help customers optimizing their Microsoft SQL Server licensing.
